The global COVID-19 pandemic is severe, and the United States is one of the hardest-hit areas. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the US courts maintained the efficiency to a certain degree through remote hearings. We invite Mr. James Yoon and Mr. Albert Shih from the well-known US law firm Wilson Sonsini to introduce the remote litigation in US (Remote Litigation/Deposition/Trials in U.S.). Wilson Sonsini's James Yoon and Matthew Argenti will introduce recent trends in U.S. patent litigation and PTAB litigation (Recent Trends in U.S. Patent Litigation and PTAB Litigation).

Taiwan's patent litigation system has become increasingly mature under the leadership of the Intellectual Property Court. While there are cases of patent infringement granting damages up to NT$1 or 2 billion, the calculation of damages for patent infringement is still worth discussing. In particular, for the accused infringing products composed of multiple parts, how to calculate damages based on the concept of contribution rate is still a very new and unknown field.

In addition, we invite Lee and Li's Roger Chang and Winona Chen to discuss how companies whose R&D results are misappropriated by employees or suppliers (e.g., applying for patents without authorization) can defend their rights and lay out the next step by analyzing the latest court cases.
